Nava Therapeutics is embarking on a Series B financing round as the biotechnology firm pursues human clinical testing of its delivery platform of genetic medicines. Nava is developing new ways to deliver genetic medicines directly into the body, with the goal of treating diseases by changing patients’ genes rather than relying on traditional drugs. The company is focused on developing a proprietary lipid nanoparticle platform to deliver RNA-based genetic medicines. Its initial therapeutic targets are autoimmune diseases and kidney disease.

Nava is planning its first clinical trial in autoimmune disease in the first half of 2027. Nava’s second program could break new ground. The company has also designed lipid nanoparticles that target the kidney, an organ that’s long been out of reach for genetic medicines. Successful delivery could open doors to treating many rare and common diseases with no or few good options.
